Trusting Yourself to Make Big Decisions: A Lesson from Coaching a 7-Figure Businesswoman

Making Decisions Isn’t Just About the Numbers

When my client Ashley, a 7-figure business owner, came to our coaching session, she wasn’t looking for financial advice. She already knew the numbers: a $20,000 investment in a new lens technology for her practice — a product with mixed reviews claiming to help patients with eye strain, motion sickness, and headaches.

On paper, the decision looked clear. The company even offered a 60-day money-back guarantee. Yet, she hesitated.

It wasn’t the money holding her back. It was something much deeper.

What Was Really Holding Her Back?

Ashley’s initial hesitation revealed a fear that many successful women face: the fear of disappointing others. Beneath the surface, she carried the belief that a wrong decision could make her appear unworthy or incapable, leaving her feeling isolated.

This belief wasn’t just an abstract thought — it was deeply embodied. She described the physical sensation of her fear as a tight knot in her stomach, like a rope pulling taut, and a heavy boulder pressing down on her shoulders.

Shifting Fear into Trust

Together, we worked to uncover and reframe Ashley’s core belief:

• Old belief: “If I make the wrong decision, everyone will leave me, and I’ll be alone.”

• New belief: “It’s okay to let some people down. People will still trust me no matter what decision I make. I am capable and worthy of making this choice.”

As this shift happened, her physical sensations transformed. The heavy knot and boulder in her body gave way to lightness, like white fluffiness filling her chest.

This wasn’t just a mental shift — it was an embodied one.

Trusting Yourself Is the Real Investment

In the end, Ashley decided to move forward with the $20,000 investment. But more importantly, she committed to trusting herself — trusting that even if this decision didn’t work out perfectly, it wouldn’t define her worth or her capability.

As a next step, she also decided to negotiate the terms of the deal. She realized that every decision — no matter how big — can be approached with creativity and confidence.

For You: The Woman Reading This

How often do you hold back from making a decision — not because of the cost, but because of the fear of letting others down?

What if you trusted yourself fully, knowing that even an imperfect decision couldn’t diminish your worth?

The real challenge isn’t choosing the “right” path; it’s believing in your ability to navigate whatever lies ahead.

Your next big decision isn’t just about the outcome. It’s about who you become in the process.
